For our railway rehabilitation project based in Drobeta-Turnu Severin, we are seeking an Engineering Geologist with the following qualifications:

Job Overview

Engineering Geologists play a key role in infrastructure projects by analyzing geological and geotechnical conditions to support safe and efficient design, construction, and maintenance activities. With expertise in soil and rock mechanics, groundwater conditions, and site investigations, the Engineering Geologist contributes to the successful delivery of complex construction projects, including railway, tunnel, bridge, and transportation infrastructure works. This role requires strong technical knowledge, field experience, and the ability to work closely with multidisciplinary project teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct geological and geotechnical site investigations to assess ground conditions.
  • Analyze soil, rock, groundwater, and geotechnical investigation data to support engineering and construction activities.
  • Prepare geological maps, cross-sections, and technical reports for project planning and design.
  • Advise on site suitability and geotechnical solutions for construction activities.
  • Design and supervise the implementation of ground improvement measures and geotechnical solutions on site.
  • Monitor and interpret data from field investigations and laboratory tests.
  • Conduct environmental impact assessments and provide technical recommendations.
  • Collaborate with engineers, planners, and project teams to integrate geological data into project execution.
  • Review and interpret geological data in line with project and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in geotechnical engineering and geology.
  • Monitor and supervise site activities in coordination with project teams and subcontractors.
  • Plan, coordinate, and report all geotechnical works and site team activities.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree is an advantage).
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in infrastructure, railway, tunnel, or large-scale construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of geological investigations, geotechnical analysis, and reporting.
  • Experience in site supervision and subcontractor coordination.
  • Good command of English, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to work under site conditions and adapt to project requirements.
